Summer Offerings for Kids, Teens & Parents!

Two days ago, I sat in a circle of Kindergarten children, as they silently savored strawberries. With their eyes closed and bodies still, they took one slow bite at a time. Twenty kindergartners, one blue rug and silent tasting.  We all enjoyed the moment.

In our Mindful Kids classes and Summer Camp, kids and teens will enjoy the experience of Mindful Eating, with deliberate pleasure, and learn how to focus their attention, calm strong emotions, and notice their thoughts and feelings.

Beginning Mindfulness for Kids (Grades K – 6) & Teens
Beginning Mindfulness helps students strengthen their focus & concentration “muscle”, calm strong emotions and lower stress levels.  In addition, participants learn how to pay attention to what they are doing, notice troubling and untrue thoughts, ease their bodies into sleep, and improve their social skills.

Beginning Mindfulness for Kids will be held on Tuesdays and Thursdays in July:
July 5, 7, 12, 14, 19, 21, 26, & 28
Kids starting Grades K – 2 in September:  1 – 2 pm
Kids starting Grades 3 – 6 in September:  2:15 – 3:15 pm
Price:  $175/student for 8 sessions

Beginning Mindfulness for Teens will be held Wednesday evenings:
June 29, July 6, 13, 20, 27 & August 3
Teens starting Grade 7  – 12 in September:  5 – 6 pm
Price:  $130/student for 6 sessions

Mindfulness & Yoga Summer Camp for 1st – 5th Graders
Our first three-day Mindfulness & Yoga Camp will give kids the opportunity to learn important mindfulness tools and helpful yoga poses.  This camp will provide a beginning session on Mindfulness and help kids develop a small yoga practice for themselves.  Topics include:  focus and concentration; the mind-body connection; the brain’s fight-flight-freeze response; mindful eating; calming strong emotions and noticing unhelpful thoughts.

Mindfulness & Yoga Summer Camp for Kids in Grades 1 – 5 will be held in August:
Tuesday – Thursday, August 9, 10 & 11
Kids starting  Grades 1 – 5:  2:30 – 4:30 pm each day
Price:  $150/student for 3 two-hour sessions

Practice Clubs for Kids (Grades 2 – 5) & Teens
The Mindful Kids Practice Clubs are designed for kids and teens, who have taken mindfulness classes previously, and wish to practice basic mindfulness tools — such as, meditation,  mindful listening, mindfulness of thoughts and emotions — and learn to address their thoughts, feelings and body signals more skillfully.  Each class, participants practice mindful eating and share the challenges and highlights of their weekly practice.

The Kids Practice Club will be held on Tuesdays and Thursdays in July:
July 5, 7, 12, 14, 19, 21, 26, & 28
Kids starting Grades 2 – 5 in September: 4:15 – 5:15 pm
Price:  $120/student for 8 sessions

Teen Practice Club will be held Wednesday evenings:
June 29, July 6, 13, 20, 27 & August 3
Teens starting Grades 7 – 12 in September:  7 – 8 pm
Price:  $90/student for 6 sessions

Mindful Parenting on Monday Nights
This four-week parenting class helps parents understand how children’s brains develop, how to strengthen kids’ emotional regulation and calm-down skills, and parent from a place of awareness and intention.  Topics include the basics of brain science, managing emotions, and family practices and rituals.  Come learn how to slow down and create a more relaxed and enjoyable home life.

Monday Nights from 7 – 8:30 pm
June 27, July 11, 18 and 25
Price:  $100
